Fazao-Malfakassa National Park covers roughly 1,920 square kilometres of savanna woodland, gallery forest and submontane forest near the Togo–Ghana border, spanning parts of the Centrale and Kara regions. It was created in 1975 from the merger of two forest reserves first established in 1951. The park supports antelope species and around 244 recorded bird species, and is recognised as an Important Bird Area. It was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Tentative List in 2002.
