The dam that created the world’s largest reservoir by surface area.

The Akosombo Dam on the Volta River was completed in 1965 and formed Lake Volta, the largest reservoir in the world by surface area, stretching some 400 kilometres north. The lake carries passenger and cargo ferries, and cruises run from Akosombo past the Adomi Bridge and surrounding hills.
