The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum honours Ghana’s first president and a leading figure of Pan-Africanism. It stands on the former polo grounds where Nkrumah declared independence on 6 March 1957, and holds the tombs of Nkrumah and his wife beneath a marble-clad mausoleum set among fountains and gardens.
