Manhyia Palace was built in 1925 as the residence of the Asantehene, king of the Asante, on their return from exile. The older palace is now a museum of Asante royal history, regalia and the story of the Golden Stool, while the kingdom’s craft villages of kente weaving, adinkra stamping and wood carving lie in the surrounding towns.
